Datuk Muhammad Nasir Hamzah, Prominent Malaysian Journalist and Media Figure, Delivers Keynote Address at A-ICON-STEAM 2023 in Semarang, Indonesia

Shah Alam, 13th August 2023 — ASEDAS International is set to host the International Conference on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (A-ICON-STEAM 2023) in Education and Industry in conjunction with the 4th International Digital Art Exhibition (ASEDAS 2023) in Semarang, Indonesia, from 1st to 2nd September 2023.

Renowned Malaysian journalist and media personality, Datuk Muhammad Nasir Hamzah, Senior Advisor of Karangkraf Media Group Sdn. Bhd., has been invited to deliver a keynote address at A-ICON-STEAM 2023 with the theme "Digital Today." The conference is organized by the ASIAN Southeast Digital Art Association (ASEDAS International) in collaboration with strategic partners including Persatuan Seniman Seni Digital Malaysia (ASEDAS Malaysia), BINUS University, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), Politeknik Merlimau Melaka (PMM), and over 20 universities, educational institutions, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations from various countries such as Indonesia, Vietnam, Belgium, China, South Korea, Mexico, India, and others.

Assoc. Prof. Ahamad Tarmizi Azizan, Founder and President of ASEDAS International, stated, "We are delighted to have Datuk Muhammad Nasir as the keynote speaker for this international conference. He is a respected figure in the journalism, publishing, and media industry, and has navigated the challenges of technological advancements spanning various fields of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics."

Datuk Muhammad Nasir, a veteran journalist and media executive, has held senior positions in several major media companies and served on the boards of higher education institutions in Malaysia. He currently serves as a Senior Advisor at Karangkraf Media Group, Malaysia's largest media conglomerate.

​

In his keynote address, Datuk Muhammad Nasir is expected to share insights and experiences from his background in media and journalism, particularly through his involvement with Karangkraf Group Sdn Bhd, regarding their role and initiatives in addressing the challenges of Industry 4.0 and artificial intelligence technology in the context of the STEAM fields within the media, journalism, publishing, and education sectors. He is also expected to discuss the challenges and opportunities of utilizing developments in the STEAM fields for creative and innovative solutions in the real world.

A-ICON-STEAM 2023 will also feature another keynote speaker, Dr. Bambang Dwi Wijanarko from BINUS University, who will discuss Computer Science and metaverse technology. The conference will also host invited speakers of repute from various STEAM-related backgrounds, including Art Historian, Prof. Emeritus Dr. Zdzislawa Toloczko from Poland, Lt. Col. (PA) Ts. Zulhaidi Mohd Jawi from the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS), Mr. Irwan Hanoko from Pradita University, Indonesia, and the Founder of World Graphic Designers (WGD), , as well as Assoc. Prof. Ahamad Tarmizi Azizan from Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, who is also the Founder and President of the ASIAN Southeast Digital Art Association (ASEDAS International).

The conference will feature over 60 papers related to the conference theme. Selected papers will be published in indexed journals. For the first time, the ASIAN Southeast Digital Art Association (ASEDAS International) will introduce the ASEDAS Grand Awards for Digital Art in six categories: Outstanding Contribution Award, Digital Art Community Award, Innovation Digital Art Advocacy Award, Excellence in Collaborative Digital Art Award, Leadership in Digital Art Education Award, Excellence in Digital Art Exhibition Award, and Special Jury Panel Award. In addition to these awards, the A-ICON-STEAM 2023 conference will also recognize the best papers and presenters, as well as honor five recipients with the Best Artwork Awards in the 4th International Digital Art Exhibition. Award recipients will be selected by a committee.

In addition to the international conference, the 4th International Digital Art Exhibition will take place at two different locations, namely BINUS University and Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES). This annual virtual exhibition, which began in 2020 with the theme "Solidarity Against COVID-19," followed by "New Hope" in 2021, "Reliance" in 2022, and "Design for Tomorrow" in 2023, has gained global recognition among art enthusiasts and higher education institutions in the STEAM field. Since its inception, more than 65 countries and 2500 participants have actively engaged in the exhibition.

A-ICON-STEAM 2023 and the 4th International Digital Art Exhibition provide excellent opportunities for professionals and students in the fields of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics to learn about the latest trends and developments in their respective domains. It also offers a platform to network with fellow professionals and students from around the world.
