ASEDAS INTERNATIONAL AWARDS 2023

1. Introduction:

Welcome to the ASEDAS AWARDS 2023, a prestigious initiative by the Asian Southeast Digital Art Association (ASEDAS International). This distinguished event is designed to honor exceptional achievements and contributions within the dynamic world of digital art. Our awards encompass a range of categories that celebrate innovation, excellence, and dedication in the realm of digital artistic expression.

2. Eligibility:

To be considered for an award nomination, candidates must meet the following criteria:

•  Nominees must hold an active membership with ASEDAS International.

• Nominees should have demonstrated noteworthy contributions to both the global digital art community and within the ASEAN region in the preceding year.

​

3. Registration Fees:

Prospective candidates must hold valid memberships with ASEDAS International for award nomination eligibility. The fee structure is as follows:

• Annual Membership Fee: $15

• Award Nomination Fee (For ASEDAS International, ASEDAS Malaysia, & ASEDAS Thailand Members): $25

• Non-Member Award Nomination Fee: $50

• A non-refundable nomination fee of $50 is mandatory for each submission, granting the candidate the opportunity to submit up to 5 nominations or participations.

• Candidates should have made substantial and impactful contributions to the digital arts domain both within the ASEAN region and on the global stage over the past year.

• Payments are to be remitted to the designated account, with proof of payment to be sent via email to: asedasasean@gmail.com.

4. Award Categories:

The ASEDAS AWARDS 2023 encompass the following categories:

1. Outstanding Contribution to the Digital Art Community Recognizing artists who have made significant and enduring contributions to the digital art community through events, educational initiatives, or mentorship.

2. Innovations in Digital Art Advocacy: Acknowledging artists who have demonstrated ingenious and impactful efforts in advancing digital art advocacy, promotion, or awareness.

3. Excellence in Digital Art Collaboration: Commending artists who have exhibited excellence in collaborating with peers, sharing resources, and co-creating transformative projects.

4. Leadership in Digital Art Education Applauding artists who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in digital art education, encompassing teaching, curriculum innovation, and mentorship.

5. Outstanding Digital Art Exhibition: Celebrating artists who have curated remarkable digital art exhibitions that elevate community awareness and underscore the significance of digital art.

6. Special Panel Jury Award: A discretionary honor recognizing unique and exceptional contributions to the digital art community that fall outside the purview of other categories. The award's selection rests with the discernment of the selection committee.

5. Evaluation Criteria:

Nominees will be meticulously assessed based on the following criteria:

 

• The caliber and influence of the nominee's body of work.

• The nominee's steadfast commitment to advancing digital art within the ASEAN region.

• The nominee's trailblazing leadership and lasting impact on the digital art community.

• The nominee's contributions to digital art education, advocacy, and network building.

6. Nomination Process:

​

 

• Nominations can be submitted through the designated nomination form until the extended deadline of August 20, 2023.

• Nominees possess the option of either self-nominating or receiving nominations from third parties.

• Submissions must provide a succinct overview of the nominee's accomplishments and qualifications.

7. Awards Gala:

​

• Winners will receive notifications between August and September 2023.

• The grand awards ceremony is scheduled for September 1-2, 2023.

​

8. International Award Committee:

- A panel of 5 esteemed judges will impartially evaluate nominations from ASEDAS Malaysia/Indonesia/Thailand/International, BINUS University, and an external exceptional panel member. The final verdict will be rendered by respective committee members of ASEDAS International.

9. Application Requirements:

​

 

• Applications are open to individuals associated with ASEDAS International, ASEDAS Malaysia, ASEDAS Indonesia, ASEDAS Thailand, as well as interested parties.

• Submission requisites encompass a comprehensive CV, a portfolio presented in both physical and digital formats, pertinent work samples from the assessment year, and optional design concept sketches.

• Limit: One submission per evaluation year. Applicants are invited to apply for all 5 categories, excluding the Special Panel Jury Award.

• Nomination descriptions must comprehensively cover work details, specific achievements, leadership attributes, educational contributions, advocacy efforts, and networking endeavors.

• Nominee's digital art presence must encompass official website links, social media profiles, and a comprehensive portfolio.

• Essential supporting documents, including CVs, resumes, and links to social media/portfolio, should be appended.

• Clear justifications for nomination within each category are expected.

10. External Evaluation:

External experts may be consulted for impartially evaluating the work/products of shortlisted applicants.

11. Timeline:

A detailed awards timeline, encompassing nomination submission, evaluation, and announcement dates, will be separately provided. Key milestones include:

1. Open call initiates from August 1 to 10, 2023.

2. Nominations, whether self-generated or by others, are accepted.

3. Nominations, comprising a concise overview of the nominee's work and credentials, are to be submitted in writing.

4. The selection committee meticulously reviews all nominations and designates the victors.

5. Winners will receive notifications during August to September 2023 (Subject to Final Confirmation).

6. The awards gala is scheduled for September 1-2, 2023 (Subject to Final Confirmation).

12. Disqualifications:

Candidates risk disqualification should they fail to meet eligibility standards, provide misleading information, or violate regulations outlined in the guidelines.

13. Copyright & Plagiarism:

Nominees must guarantee the authenticity of their submitted work and materials, ensuring that they do not infringe upon copyright or plagiarize pre-existing creations.

14. Award Assessment:

Assessment will hinge on sustained contributions within the nominee's field, encompassing the quality and impact of their work, unwavering dedication to digital art advancement, exceptional leadership qualities, and contributions to education, advocacy, or networking.

15. Disclaimer:

The organizers retain the prerogative to amend, alter, or cancel any aspect of the awards or its guidelines as deemed necessary. Decisions made by the award committee are definitive and binding.
